Sally_Levie_Portrait.jpg

The beauty of nature and the outdoors have influenced Sally Levie’s long relationship with art. She was inspired as the daughter of 4 generations of artists - her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, all art lovers and artists impacting lives from Texas to California, where Sally was born.

For Sally, art was never a solo passion. She spent a thirty-year career teaching children how to express themselves and through art how to critically think. She taught art to generations at Blessed Sacrament School in Washington, D.C., the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in D.C. She received a National Art Education and State Farm National Teacher Award in 1996 and was awarded the Corcoran Gallery of Art Teacher of the Year in 1999.

Sally holds a B.A. Degree from the University of California at San Diego with a double major of Art History and Visual Arts. She graduated with a Certificate of Achievement in Painting from the Washington Studio School, Washington. D.C., also has a Master’s Degree in Education and Child Development, from California State University at San Jose. She studied painting Provence, France for three summers. Sally lives in Washington, D.C. Her work is held in private collections nationally and internationally. Her recent focus on forests and trees has been influenced by her love of the outdoors, and her travels throughout the world.
